Got unexplained aches, pains, tension, or tingles, rashes, or other symptoms? Your body is sending you some kind of distress signal. It’s clueing you in that something you’re doing, thinking, or feeling isn’t good for you. Sometimes, though, it’s hard to figure out what that is.

Most people reach for pills or rush to the doctor when they’re hurting. But diagnostic tests and medical remedies don’t always help. Even if you do get your symptoms calmed down, your body may work on getting your attention some other way.

Since your body is the main expert on what’s going on, consider interviewing your body to get the answers you need. Make an appointment with your body, and be willing to take time to really listen – not so much for a set of facts but for an intuitive sense of what’s going on. A good doorway into the intuitive language of the body is through the arts. Consider conducting a compassionate interview with your body and then writing, painting, or dramatizing the response.

Your Body Can Be Perfect Now!!!

Ever watch the 3 a.m. TV shows that promise (Call now! Satisfaction guaranteed!) nonstop for a full 30 minutes that your life will be forever changed by buying their product right now?

I recently took the Saturday night watch with a woman who was dying, spending 12 hours at her bedside. The TV stayed on the whole time. She wanted it on, even though she slept almost the entire time I was with her. (What strange accompaniment these late-night comics and product pushers would make, I thought, should this woman pass on into the next world as I sat there.)
